Maycie Turns 2!

Maycie Lou turned 2 this year!! I can't believe our beautiful little angel has already been with us for 2 years! She has taught us so much love and showed us so much beauty in these past two years that we can't imagine how much the future holds for her. For her birthday, we surprised her with breakfast in bed. She thought she was royalty with the tray and birthday cup; although her hair was arguing otherwise. ;) Her breakfast consisted of her favorite oatmeal, yogurt, cheesecake, and apple juice in the birthday cup. You could tell Kingston was a little confused as to why Maycie got breakfast in bed and he didn't. After Daddy went to work, Mommy took the kids to Lagoon and they road all of Maycie's favorite rides. That night we went up to Logan to open Tyson's mission call and Maycie's presents from Grandma Karen and Grandpa Todd.

For Maycie's birthday party, we decided to play at the park because she loves it so much. We played on the playground, played pickle ball, had pizza and cake, and opened presents. Some of her favorite presents were: Books, a princess mirror, frozen action figures, a Brave dress costume(that she thinks is Elsa), a Mini Mouse costume, sunglasses, Mini Mouse underpants, a Boo doll from Monsters Inc., playdough, and many more.

Landslide

We were in our brand new house less than a month when a landslide occurred down the street Tuesday morning around 6:30. Sky Properties had been hauling dirt up and down our street for weeks to make certain lots more desirable. Consequently, the added dirt didn't hold up on the steep hill for long. Very slowly, all of the dirt came crashing through the Utrilla family's home in our ward. They were all evacuated and moved to Dave and Laurie's house in safety, but unfortunately had to watch their brand new home, that they owned free and clear, come crashing down. Over the next few days, the other three houses on that side of the street were evacuated and those families have all been put up in model homes or town homes to aid in their comfort. As I am writing this, weeks later, there has still been no change to what they are doing to fix the mudslide because they are having to do constant experimenting to find the exact cause of the problem so to not cause more problem. They are not worried about our home being in danger at all, because we used dynamite to dig our foundation because of all the bedrock, but we are sickened by the fact that our neighbors are hurting at this time. I hope one day everyone involved in the situation will be in a better situation, but until then, our hearts and prayers go out to the families affected.

Kasen's First Rides

Today was a really fun day... Kasen went on his first "big kid" rides at Lagoon. He went on the Little Whales and the little Titlewave. With the whales ride he sat with his big brother Kingston, and he was definitely trying to climb out. Kingston was trying to be a good big brother and help him stay in but Kasen just wasn't having it; the ride ended just in time and Mommy grabbed him right before he climbed out. On the boat ride, Kasen was able to sit on Mommy's lap and liked it a little more than the whales, but still was not happy until the ride was over. Mommy sure loved the cuddle sessions after these rides though. :)

Real Salt Lake Game

Jess had never been to a Real Salt Lake soccer game, so when there was a free game with our Pass of All Passes, you better believe we were there. The kids had tons of fun and Kingston kept yelling, “Shoot it!” because he heard Daddy say it once. Maycie watched intently on Uncle Trent's lap, and Kasen loved being able to hold on to the seat backs and walk around. RSL ended up losing but it was such a fun atmosphere that we will definitely go again. By the end up the game, the kids were so tired that we were unsuccessful in getting a good picture.
