Kingston is 2!! I can't believe that we have a 2-year-old! We had a really fun birthday party for him to celebrate; a construction party which we had in our backyard.
When the kids arrived, they walked down to the backyard on pavers with a sign that said "Party Zone". Until everyone got there, we let the kids play on the trampoline and the bounce house; each with a sign hanging on it that said "Break Room". Once everyone got there, we pulled the kids over to the "Demolition Zone" where they got to throw a soccer ball at a big stack of boxes to see who could demolish them. The kids loved it, and it was so fun to watch their faces get a 'proud' smile on them when they knocked it down and everyone cheered. We made sure to have them wear hard hats so they didn't get hurt. ;)
After the demo zone, we took a break to get some food. The kids were able to "Pack-A-Lunch" of their own with a brown paper bag and were able to choose from a PB&J or turkey sandwich, applesauce, fruit snacks, capri suns, and cookies. As the kids picked their food, they were telling the other kids what they were going to put in as if to be proud they made their own lunch/dinner. It was really fun as a parent to think that one day Kingston will get excited to be independent and will want to tell me about it.
After dinner we did the pinata, which was probably Kingston's favorite. As you can see in the pictures, he loved it when he hit the pinata and everyone cheered. After all the kids got a turn to hit the pinata, cousin Cade hit it so hard the candy went everywhere. We had the candy equally dispersed into separate little baggies so that there would be no fighting. Unfortunately once Kingston got the "tandy" he wasn't interested in anything else. We tried to do the presents in the "Unloading Zone" after but he was too caught up in the candy. We ended up having to skip over most of the presents and just let them play.
Our little Bean is no longer a little baby; he's turning into a little boy and we couldn't be more in love with him. He makes us laugh every day and we are always learning from him. We're so grateful for him in our lives and are so glad to have had these past two years with him and look forward to many more birthdays.
