What an exciting night for our family! Tonight we had a gender reveal party with some of our family and friends and it couldn't have turned out more perfect! On Thursday, November 19th, I had my ultrasound to find out the gender of baby #4 but we had decided we were going to find out at the same time as everyone else. So Doctor Farley told me when not to look at the screen, then wrote down the gender on the ultrasound pictures and put it in an envelope that I brought so I couldn't see it. One of my good friends, Jordan, peeked in the envelope so she could buy silly string for us. We checked with a yellow silly string to see if there was a color anywhere on the can besides the lid, which there wasn't, so once I left the store she was able to get 40 cans of the right color and just take the lids off so you couldn't tell if it was blue or pink. Then I went to the bakery and handed the cake decorator the envelope; once she peeked she got to making us a cake that said, "He or She, What will it be?", along with cupcakes, all of which were filled with the right color frosting in the middle.
So tonight when everyone arrived, we went into the garage and our family of 5 (and a half) stood against one wall and all at once our guests sprayed us with the colored silly string. It was SO exciting to see hot pink spray out of those cans and for everyone to be just as excited as we were! The thoughts that were running through my head were, "I can't believe Maycie is going to have a sister!" and "We get to raise two of each gender! This couldn't be more perfect!"
After we got most of the silly string off of everyone we went back inside for lots of dessert: blue cake balls, pink cake balls, blue and pink rice krispie treats, the cake and cupcakes, mints, popcorn, different blue and pink candies, ice cream, cookies, blue gatorade, and pink lemonade. We had so much fun at the party we didn't even realize we hadn't fed our kids dinner until 10:30 at night! Oops!
Needless to say, we've been talking about our new baby SISTER ever since! Thanks to all those who came and celebrated with us!
'Tis the season
