Balboa Island

Today we flew on a plane to California for the week. We had some time to kill before we could check in to our first rental, so what better way to spend it than on Balboa Island. We were able to drive our car onto the ferry in which the kids were horrified and thought our car was going to sink. Maycie and Kasen cried the entire 3 minutes across the water, and Kingston braved the rain to go outside our car so he could be closer to the water. We then walked the quaint streets of Balboa and stopped at the cutest little book shop. The kids were able to read books, play with blocks, and even put on a puppet show for Mom. Of course we had to stop for Balboa bars but instead the kids chose to get cotton candy ice cream. The rain sure got us, but it really didn't stop the kids from having fun. They loved holding the umbrellas and stopping in all of the little candy shops. Definitely a day for the books! (Later that night there was a lot of flooding all over California so we made sure to stay inside the rest of the night.)
